Felisa hand-spinning wool in Huazalotitlan

Felisa put a chicken on the stove for lunch, then put on gold earings and settled down to demonstrate drop spindle spinning of wool for our cameras. The drop spindle whirls in a small gourd cup, with a little water for lubrication.

The chicken soup was deliceous, as was the cold tea made with an infusion of hibiscus blossoms. In Mexico, hibiscus is cinco besos - five kisses.
